We run a Minor Illness Clinic most days with our Advanced Nurse Practitioners. They are able to prescribe medicines and can be prebooked in advance. The following ailments can be dealt with and the appropriate medicines prescribed, where necessary. Please note this list is NOT exhaustive and you may wish to consider booking with an ANP in the first instance as you will be given a 50% longer appointment time.

To contact the Practice Nurse, please telephone the usual surgery number and the receptionist will be able to book an appointment for you.
In addition to providing general nursing, our Nurses also perform blood pressure checks and take samples for lab, perform smear tests, ear syringing and childhood immunisations, etc.
They run a variety of health promotion clinics including: chronic heart disease, weight reduction, diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory. Please ask reception if you would like to attend one of these clinics. If the Nurse/HCA detects a problem at a clinic they will liaise with a Doctor.
The Practice Nurses are supported by Health Care Assistants (who takes certain clinics, changes dressings, blood pressure checks and blood tests) and a Phlebotomist (blood tests).
A team of Community Nurses, (including Community Matrons, District Nurses all supported by HCA’s), provide general nursing care such as injections, dressings, and advice on all medical matters for those housebound patients unable to attend the surgery. They can be contacted through Sirona on 0300 125 6789 between 8.00am and 6.00pm.
At times we have medical students aswell as paramedics and Nursing students. This means that some of our staff support, train and supervise students. We will advise you at the time of your appointment if this is the case and if you are uncomfortable with this for any reason please do not hesitate to advise our reception team. The practice also occasionally participates in research studies designed to improve future health care. All research studies are closely governed to ensure that patient confidentiality is protected and maintained and that the studies have passed the proper ethical requirements. If a study involves specific patients, those patients will be asked whether they would like to participate and given information. They have the right to decline involvement. It is entirely voluntary.
Health Care Assistants support the Doctors and Practice Nurses. Two of our Health Care Assistants have completed NVQ level 2 and NVQ3. They carry out various duties including:
